Friday, October 20th at Sally Loo's, San Luis Obispo

There is so much more to Tango than just dancing! Kick off the evening with a free discussion group (chamuyo) with Christy Coté. Get her perspective on the music, dance, and culture of Tango. Bring your questions and enjoy the evening with this personable and dynamic instructor. Come join in the fun.

Continue the evening with great food, drink, music, and most of all dancing. No cover for this social dancing event at Sally Loo's Wholesome Cafe, 1804 Osos St., San Luis Obispo (near the railroad station).




Saturday, October 21st at Motions, Atascadero

12:00 – 1:30 pm Must Haves - Leaders' Technique (all levels)

Christy will share with you technique tips for all of the elements which will be taught throughout the weekend making this workshop a must to get the most out of all the other workshops!

1:30 – 3:00 pm Demystifying the Argentine Vals (int)

Great for newcomers to Vals or those who dance it with a natural feel for the music who might appreciate a deeper understanding of this dance. Musicality will be the focus with basic figures which you can improvise for a beautiful Vals.   It is highly recommended to take the Leader’s Technique workshop as preparation for this workshop.

3:30 – 5:00 pm Musical, Musical Molinentes (int/adv)

Christy will share with you several Molinetes with various leader’s footwork options for musical and enjoyable Molinetes for both Leader and Follower.  It is highly recommended to take the Leader’s Technique workshop as preparation for this workshop.


Saturday, October 21st, Tango in the Gardens, Los Osos

6:00pm – 7:30pm Potluck Dinner
7:30pm – 11:00pm Milonga (Social Dancing)

Join us for a potluck dinner right after class followed by a Milonga (social dancing) at 190 Sea Wind Way, Los Osos, no cover. From the studio, take 101 South to the second exit, Hwy 41 West to Morro Bay, then Hwy 1 South to the third exit, South Bay Blvd to a right turn on Los Osos Vally Rd in Los Osos. Follow Los Osos Valley Road past elementary school and golf course. Turn right on Sea Wind Way and immediately take another right through the gate at 190. Follow the signs past the main house to the bottom of the property for parking.




Sunday, October 22nd at Motions, Atascadero

12:00 – 1:30 pm Empowering Followers' Technique (all levels)

Concepts for following workshops will be included here as well as musicality and other technique to empower the Follower’s dance.

1:30 – 3:00 pm Dramatic Milonguero Dips (int/adv)

Milonguero dips are great for Vals and dramatic music such as Pugliese. Add these to your dance for a dramatic effect!   It is highly recommended to take the Leader’s Technique workshop on Sat or the Follower’s Technique Workshop on Sun as preparation for this workshop.

3:30 – 5:00 pm Super Advanced Stuff! (adv)

Christy will share with you some advanced and challenging pasos (steps).   Christy’s clear and concise teaching method will allow you to achieve success in this advanced level class.  I It is highly recommended to take the Leader’s Technique workshop on Sat or the Follower’s Technique Workshop on Sun as preparation for this workshop.

Monday, October 23rd
SLO Vets’ Hall, Grand Ave. & Monterey St., San Luis Obispo

7:00 – 8:30 pm Fun Milonga (all levels)

Time for some fun Milonga steps and musicality that will be useful for Milongas from Vicente Greco to Otros Aires. It will be fun and challenging!

8:30 – 9:30 pm Open Practica

Even if you are not interested in the class, please do join us for open practice and dancing, $5 donation (as usual) or free if you take the class.




Cost for 90-Minute Group Classes: $30 per person per class. Register for multiple classes at once and save: 2 for $55, 3 for $80, 4 for $100, 5 for $120, 6 for $130, or all get all 7 for $140. Pre-register online.

The last 15 minutes of each 90-minute class will be for practice and/or warm-up for next class. Please try to arrive early so you don’t miss anything.

Private instruction is available for $120 per hour, discounted to $100 for singles or couples who have registered for at least one group class. Please contact Rich to schedule private classes.




Based in San Francisco, Christy Coté has been dancing and teaching Argentine Tango for 22 years.
