with Nito & Elba Garcia

Friday, July 15th at Sally Loo's, San Luis Obispo

6:30 – 7:30 pm Chamuyo and
7:30 – 9:30 pm Milonga

There is so much more to Tango than just dancing! Kick off the evening with a free discussion group (chamuyo) with Nito & Elba with Laticia Miller interpreting for us. Get their perspective on the music, dance, and culture of Tango. Bring your questions and enjoy the evening with this wonderful couple who have danced through the golden age of tango in Argentina.

Continue the evening with great food, drink, music, and most of all dancing. No cover for this social dancing event at Sally Loo's Wholesome Cafe, 1804 Osos St., San Luis Obispo (near the railroad station).

Right & Left Enrosques (corkscrew or twist) will add a wonderful flavor to your dance style.

It's always amazing how Nito comes up with interesting, fresh, and musical combinations for Vals.

Nito Garcia learned Tango the old-fashioned way, watching his uncle and aunt dance on a packed-earth patio in the province of Buenos Aires more than half a century ago. As a young man he polished his skills in the dance halls of Buenos Aires in the '50s, was a principal dancer with the orchestra of Osvaldo Pugliese, and later moved to Mar Del Plata, on the Atlantic coast of Argentina, where he continued to perform and teach.

Supremely creative and elegant exponents of the tango, Nito & Elba have, in recent years, been "rediscovered" by a younger generation of tangueros in Buenos Aires, many of whom seek them out for individual instruction.

Nito & Elba teach regularly in South America and tour North America and Europe frequently for workshops and seminars. They have been featured instructors at Nora's Tango Week, as well as the International Tango Congresses, held annually in Buenos Aires.
