There is so much more to Tango than just dancing! Kick off the evening with a free discussion group (chamuyo). Facundo & Christy, will discuss the music, dance, and culture of Tango, as well as the topics of their upcoming classes. Bring your questions and enjoy meeting these great teachers.

Continue the evening with great food, drink, music, and most of all dancing. No cover for this social dancing event at Sally Loo's Wholesome Cafe, 1804 Osos St., San Luis Obispo (near the railroad station), but a great opportunity for a light dinner before dancing!

Different Walks & Subtle Details applied to Tango, Vals and Milonga.

2:30 – 4:00 pm Tango Salon

Interpretation of Different Orchestras – vary your dance as much as the incredible range of tango orchestras.

4:30 – 6:00 pm Follower’s Milonga Technique with Christy

Christy leads a fun and energetic class to get the feeling of the Milonga into the body and really DANCING, not just "following" the Milonga.


Sunday, November 21st at the San Luis Obispo Odd Fellows' Hall

1:00 – 2:30 pm The Milonga of Facundo Posadas, Part I

This first part of two will include musicality and technique from this Argentine Master.

2:30 – 4:00 pm The Milonga of Facundo Posadas, Part II

The Posadas family has been dancing in Argentina since the 1800’s; these could be the most authentic Milonga classes you ever take.

4:30 – 6:00 pm Figuras de Trenza

Let's try some challenging Braided Figures for Tango.


Cost for 90-Minute Group Classes per person: $30 per person per class. Register for multiple classes at once and save: 2 for $55, 3 for $75, 4 for $95, 5 for $110, or all get all 6 for $120.

Individual Private Instruction is $80 per hour per instructor, maximum of one couple per instructor. Semi-private classes are $60 per couple per hour, led by both instructors with a minimum of three couples. Please contact Rich to schedule private and semi-private classes.

No partners required! The last 15 minutes of each class will be for practice and/or warm-up for next class. Please try to arrive early so you don’t miss anything.

Christy & Facundo lead a review of all the weekend’s classes to help those who attended those classes solidify the material and ask any questions that may have arisen. This takes the time and place of our regularly scheduled Monday night class/practica. If you haven't taken any of the workshop classes, please coming next week instead.

$15 Admission.




Facundo Posadas is an icon in the world of Argentine Tango and the only Afro-Argentine traveling the world to share the roots of this dance by teaching Milonga and Candombe as well at Tango. Robert Farris Thompson writes of Facundo in his book Tango: The Art History of Love, "today's master of Argentine tango, milonga, and jazz dance" and tells of the rich history of the Posadas family dating back to the 1800s. Facundo started dancing at a young age and enjoyed dancing in Buenos Aires all his life. He danced with many of the great orchestras such as that of Jose Basso, Anibal Troilo, Osvaldo Pugliese, Juan D'Arienzo, Carlos DiSarli and Miguel Calo. He has been in 6 films including Tango The Obsession, Tango Un Giro Extranio, Despabilate Amor Afro-Argentinos, Negro Che and El Cafe de Los Maestros and he has been featured in many television shows for Buenos Aires television as well as the BBC in London. Christy Coté has been teaching Argentine Tango for 14 years and is based in San Francisco. Her teaching method has been published in the Argentine Tango Manual by Dance Vision (www.dancevision.com) and is complimented by a series of 20 instructional DVDs. Christy is also a founding member of the all female tango company, Tango Con*Fusión (www.tangoconfusion.com) with whom she performed in Leading Ladies of Tango at San Francisco’s Herbst Theater, Glamour Tango at Chicago’s Logan Auditorium and at the International Tango Congress in Buenos Aires. She has taught at tango festivals across the U.S., at The International Tango Congress (Bs.As.) and on the Tango at Sea Cruises worldwide. Stage shows include TANGO X3 at San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts, The Elegant Era and The Latin Show at the San Jose Center for Performing Arts, and The 28th annual San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival.
