Friday, April 30th at Higher Groundz, San Luis Obispo

There is so much more to Tango than just dancing! Kick off the evening with a free discussion group (chamuyo). Get Claudio & Elizabeth's perspective on the music, dance and culture of Tango. Bring your questions and enjoy meeting this dynamic couple. Plus, get a preview of what we will enjoy this weekend.

Continue the evening with great food, drink, music, and most of all dancing. No cover for this social dancing event at the Higher Groundz Family Coffee House, 3230 Broad St., Suite 130, San Luis Obispo (Broad and Orcutt), but a great opportunity for a light dinner before dancing!


Saturday, May 1st
Central Coast Dance Studio, 2004 10th St., Los Osos

From Hwy 101 (north or south), exit on Los Osos Valley Rd. Proceed 10 miles Northwest to Los Osos and turn Right on 10th St., continue 2 blocks to Central Coast Dance on the corner of Santa Ynez Ave., above Los Osos Liquor. Please park on the street, because the lot is reserved for convenience store customers.

12:00 – 1:30 pm The Foundation

We will work on basic steps and fundamental elements using a combination with ochos, mainly concentrating on walking, balance and embrace. Mastery of these elements makes all the rest possible, don’t miss out on this class! Experienced dancers will get more out of this class as well as the other classes than you mighht think. All levels welcome – even first timers, no partner required.

1:30 – 3:00 pm Tango Salon (Beg-Int)

A fun combination of sweeps, displacement of the foot, & turns – Barridas, Sacada, & Giros. Focus on lead/follow, body dissociation, posture, and balance.

3:30 – 5:00 pm Milonga con Traspié (Int)

Work on a syncopated pattern combination based on musicality and cadence.


Sunday, May 2nd
Central Coast Dance Studio, 2004 10th St., Los Osos

12:00 – 1:30 pm Vals Cruzado (Beg-Int)

Work on an elegant, syncopated combination with chains (Cadenas) and turns (Giros) with a focus on musicality and style.

1:30 – 3:00 pm Tango Milonguero (Int/Adv)

A rhythmic tango class with emphasis on posture, embrace, walking, and dissociation of the upper torso with embellishments for him and for her.

3:30 – 5:00 pm Tango Nuevo (Adv)

Experience new tango moves and challenging steps with a combination of Volcadas and Colgadas with Ganchos and Boleos while focusing on body position and balance.


The last 15 minutes of each 90-minute class will be for practice and/or warm-up for next class. Please try to arrive early so you don’t miss anything. Classes do not require partners and frequent rotation will be encouraged but not required.

Cost for 90-Minute Group Classes: $30 per person per class. Register for multiple classes at once and save: 2 for $55, 3 for $75, 4 for $95, 5 for $110, or all get all 6 for $120.
