Saturday, September 1st

3:00 – 4:30 pm Introduction (Beginners and First-Timers)

This class is geared for first-time Argentine Tango dancers and beginners. Partners are not required. And yes, beginning does include our Monday night Level 2 class.

4:30 – 6:00 pm Navigation (All Levels)

Claudio will cover topics of interest to all levels of dancers to help us with skills for navigating the dance floor including elegant, interesting ways to change direction.


8:00 – 9:00 pm Chamuyo (Discussion Group)

There is so much more to Tango than just dancing! Kick off the evening with a free discussion group (chamuyo). Claudio will discuss the music, dance, and culture of Tango. Bring your questions and enjoy getting to know him.

9:00 – 11:30 pm Milonga (Social Dancing)

Continue the evening with great food, drink, music, and most of all dancing. $5 donation requested for this social dancing event.


Sunday, September 2nd

11:00 am – 12:30 Milonga (All Levels)

Claudio spices up your Milonga with traspié. This rhythmic predecessor to tango will be more fun when you have more vocabulary to play with. Beginning dancers through advanced are sure to dance away with something good from this class.

12:30 – 2:00 pm Tango (Beginning / Intermediate)

Building the Dance: Using the walk, cross, and ochos to build the dance. Best for Level 2 dancers and above.

3:00 – 4:30 pm Turns (Beginning / Intermediate)

Exploring the technique and musicality of turns, for Level 2 dancers and above.

4:30 – 6:00 pm Enrosques & Corridas (Intermediate / Advanced)

Technique and placement of enrosques & corridas. Intended for intermediate and advanced dancers in the Level 3 class and beond. We are experimenting with limiting this one class to couples only; if you don't have a partner, please contact Laura or Rich so we can help match you up with someone.

Central Coast Dance, Los Osos

Saturday and Sunday, it's all happening at 2004 10th St., Los Osos. From Hwy 101 (north or south), exit on Los Osos Valley Rd. Proceed 10 miles Northwest to Los Osos and turn Right on 10th St., continue 2 blocks to Central Coast Dance on the corner of Santa Ynez Ave., above Los Osos Liquor. Please park on the street, because the lot is reserved for convenience store customers.

Cost: $30 per person per class. Register for multiple classes at once and save: 2 for $55, 3 for $75, 4 for $95, 5 for $110, and all 6 for $120. One-hour private classes (one or two students) available for $80, and one-hour semi-private classes for $60 per couple with $160 minimum. Please contact Laura to schedule.

The last 15 minutes of each class will be for practice and/or warm-up for next class. Please try to arrive early so you don’t miss anything, including the first class of the day.

Monday, September 3rd at SLO Vets' Hall

7:00 – 9:00 pm Review (All Levels)

Claudio will review the material covered over the weekend and answer questions. You will also have plenty of time to practice and have opportunities to receive corrections from this weekend's guest instructor. $10 for this special review class. the San Luis Obispo Vets' Hall (near the corner of Grand & Monterey).

9:00 – 10:00 pm Practica (All Levels)

Continue the evening at the Vets' Hall with a supervised practice for all levels of dancers, $5 donation.


Claudio Asprea returns to San Luis Obispo for a fourth time. He has been partnered with Agustina Videla since 1997, but right now she is pregnant and staying home so he is here on his own this time. They have performed at many major tango events in Buenos Aires and appeared several times on Argentine Television. They have also been part of numerous tango shows on multiple continents.

Agustina and Claudio have toured Europe several times, performing and teaching in Austria, France, Germany, Luxemboug, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and Russia as well as a large number of cities in the United States including New York, Washington, San Francisco, Miami, and Portland.

Claudio & Agustina have just released their instructional DVD, "Tango from the Heart", with over 4 hours of material. This DVD is the result of many years of experience, research, and detailed effort. Tango from the Heart will be available directly from Claudio while he is here or from their web site.
